DJ: Book 3 Chapter 1-3

"Do anything to me!" he yelled. "You've been starving me for weeks. Finish if off and let me die. Shoot me. Hang me. Sentence me to twenty-five years. Is there somebody else you want me to give away? Just who it is and i'll tell you anything you want. I don't care who it is or what you do to them. I've got a wife and thee children. The biggest of them isn't six years old. You can take the whole lot of them and cute their throats in front of my eyes, and I'll stand by and watch it. But not Room 101!" (195)

Image result for Room 101This words from the old man are really scary and touchy.  Room 101 is a room where the Party attempts to subjects its prisoner into their worst nightmares, phobias, and fear all so they could break them and stay loyal to the Party. Room 101 is located in the Ministry of Love. The funny thing to me is where this room is located but just like any other twisted thing in this book is not much of a surprise. The room is really something scary according to the old man who's been taken to it. He screams out not Room 101 and pleads for him to not be taken. He would rather betray other people for him not to be taken to the room. He would rather die with a bullet or a rope around his neck to not go even a bullet across him. What really shocked me is that how can he offered his own family. Its really wrong how scare the room can be for him to give up his family like that. He even said that he would watch as they kill them right in front of him. I hate what coward he is for even saying such thing. Makes me hate the Party even more because they make a men think that way and how twisted society is.

"I told you,' said O'Brien, 'that if we met again it would be here." (202)

Image result for liesThis quote is significant because it talks about that dark place O'Brien told Winston. You can really find out who O'Brien and how he was a fake and how he lie the whole time to try and capture anyone who would rebel against the Party. You can see that the turning off of the telescreen was just something he was able to do because he it part of the Party. O'Brien would've never gone against the Party for one he was in a good stance. He was leaving a wealthy life. You also could see the betrayal from O'Brien and how the "Brotherhood" was a simply trick to fool anyone who dared go against the Party. How it was all part of an act. Also how much the Party has power over everything and how their is no escape.

  1. I thought the quote you chose was very chilling because of the language used. I agree that the Party are very bad people and the way they treat their citizens is inhumane. I found your analyze to be very helpful to my understanding of the quotes.

  2. The way you were able to analyze the quotes helped to further my understanding. The detail of the quotes you analyzed is very eye catching. They make you want to see what is going to happen next. I can see that after everything that O'Brien but Winston through he was ready anything else, but Room 101. Room 101 would have been to much after everything he had gone through, which is why he would do anything to not have to go inside. I agree that the Party are horrible people.

  3. You did a really good job explaining the quote. At first I didn't know where you were heading, but once you explained I really understood the concept. I as well believe the Party are horrible people, but what separates the inner party and the rebellion? In my opinion they're just two different sides of the same coin.

  4. Winston is a really bad dad he would rather see his children die before enduring the pain of room 101. Though I understand that he is psychologically damaged but that should not be a reason to throw yourself under the bus. Not only does he throw his children but also his wife and lover Julia. I also like that you choose the quote that bring backs past events of the book and make you think of O'Brien in a new light it makes you want to reread passages.

  5. I really like the way that you analyzed these quotes. It made me see things a bit differently but I also agree with you overall. The quotes that you chose were very haunting and they honestly make me feel sick. It is frustrating to see the actions that Winston would go through but I also don't know how I would react in his position.

  6. I like the way you explained your quote. Even though he is psychologically damaged he shouldn't have told on himself because if he didn't he wouldn't have gotten tortured.

  8. I know I constantly say this under your comments but you really do a great job at analyzing your quotes and the way you rephrase things makes it a lot more easier for me to understand.
